Thunder Storms and Peppermint Mochas

This morning I was woken up by loud bursts of thunder and rain.

Did I miss something?

Last I checked it is early September and I live in California.

But that's OK. I absolutely adore gloomy sweater weather so I stumbled out of bed put on my green Hunter wellies and booked it to Starbucks for a peppermint mocha. YUM!

Fittingly I came across this brilliant idea on pinterest this morning:

Frozen whipped cream hearts

The idea is simple: freeze whipped cream and use heart shaped cookie cutters to shape the design, pop the heart in your hot chocolate/mocha and viola! A perfect idea for a quiet night in on a cold winter night.

Would you try this idea?

p.s. I leave in 11 days for Ukraine!

Good-byes, The Hills, and Giants Baseball

This is my last week of work! 4 more days at my job and then I am taking 1 week off before I fly out to D.C for pre-training orientation. It is so crazy to think how fast the time has flown by and that in just 13 days I will be leaving for the Peace Corps.

While preparing to leave for Ukraine I have certainly realized that the old saying is right- “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.” This sentiment rings true for me in all aspects of my life- family, friends, etc. but today I am specifically reflecting on this statement with regards to my job. I have been so blessed to have been offered the opportunity to have worked at this office for the past year. I am surrounded by great people, great clients, and excellent opportunities for growth. Sure I have had my moments of gripe but those were few and far between compared to the moments I have loved this place. I am so appreciative of my bosses and am so grateful for the professional skills I have acquired through my time in this position.

Ok, now that the mushy part is done. Let’s talk weekend. Last weekend was amazing. So relaxing- I may or may not have sacrificed the better part of my Saturday (and Sunday) to “The Hills” marathon on MTV. I’m not ashamed. Weekends are meant for indulgence of your guilty pleasures.

Side note: I absolutely adore LC and Whitney!

Monday I spent the whole day at the Giants game in San Francisco with my dad. It was such an amazing day. Not only did the Giants come back from behind in the late innings and then win it on a walk off in the 10th but I got to spend the whole day with my awesome dad. It had been so long since we went to a game just the 2 of us. It was just what I needed before leaving the country.

Love him!

How was your long weekend?
